Hi, my name is Sedi-Anne, I grew up in Martinique, a French Island in the West Indies; area known for its political and economic difficulties, not to mention the natural catastrophes that, as Caribbeans, we all have to deal with. After a Master in Finance and Accounting, I worked three years in the financial services of private companies before quitting it all to follow my dream. I knew that I wanted to tackle global challenges from an insider perspective, impacting positively the lives of others, or at least helping to. The MESCI gave me the knowledge, instruments and legitimacy to do so. After the master I was offered a consultancy contract within the World Bank to work on a microdata survey related to the refugee crisis. In parallel I am also working as a research assistant on the Tor Vergata hosted project “historical household budgets” which aims at constructing a multi-topic database of household budgets from 1850 to the present day, collecting and harmonizing historical surveys from all over the world. The road to success is long and hard in this particular field, but the MESCI made it possible for me to take the first step.
