SAMAYOA Lucia
I was born in Guatemala but moved away at the age of 6 and lived in Quito, Tegucigalpa and Escazú before moving to Chicago to study a B.A. in Economics and International Studies at Loyola University. During my studies in Chicago and a semester abroad in Barcelona I became interested in urban issues. However, after completing my bachelor’s, I moved back to Guatemala where I worked doing research on rural and agricultural issue, statistics on foreign trade, and English-Spanish translations. As of a couple of years ago, I have been interested in working on urban issues and, specifically, urban economics. I enrolled in the Mundus Urbano Program and am doing my second year in Rome to tie my academic and professional background to this new path and I hope to use my personal, academic and professional experience in different countries to contribute to a better urban development in Guatemala and other developing countries around the world.
