PAGLIUCA Mariella
I am Mariella, I am 25 years old and I studied International Relations at “Roma Tre” University. I graduated with honors, with a thesis in International Development Law about Green Economy and Sustainable Development policies in developing countries. I pursued most part of my thesis researches in Geneva, at “The Graduate Institute”. My deep interest in Cooperation and Development started at University, after attending a Development Economics course. I was fascinated by development policies, aid strategies and cooperation projects: during my studies, what have always made me indignant were, for example, issues like the question of the pharmaceutical patents in developing countries or land-grabbing. Thanks to my mentor at University, after my internship at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE), I have had the chance to be involved in meetings of the Italian Cooperation at the MAE. I have worked on some reports and working-papers regarding Italian-Caribbean Cooperation, specifically on the "Youth-In: A Caribbean Network for Youth Development" project executed by UNDP, and financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I took an active part in the workshop "10 Years of Italy-Caribbean Best Practices". I have also participated in a cultural exchange in Rome among students from the “University of West Indies” and “Roma Tre”. I would find a way to give my little contribution in order to change the unfair system ruling our World, and I think that MESCI represents the best starting point for my purpose.
