MCNUTT Maria Fernanda

My name is Maria Fernanda McNutt and I was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala. After finishing my architecture studies at Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala, I decided to move out from the city towards Solol´, one of the most beautiful but also one of the poorest areas in my country. Moving to this place changed my life, not just because of the amazing experiences that I lived there, but because it was there where I met my husband, with whom I have a beautiful baby girl. In Solol´ I discovered the uncountable natural and cultural wonders that Guatemala has to offer, but I also got more in touch with the extreme poverty, high levels of corruption and urban sprawl that affect it. During the two years that I was there, I had the great opportunity to work as an independent consultant with the Canadian International Development Agency and with the Spanish Agency for International development. I worked in projects related to the improvement of the local economic development of the area, community tourism, heritage and urban regeneration. Last year, I was awarded an Erasmus Mundus scholarship to study the Mundus Urbano Master Course, and for the second year of this master I have chosen Tor Vergata University to continue my path.
