Bridging Skills for Sustainable, Ecological and Digital Transformation

Alumni 2010/2011

MAGALHAES DE CARVALHO TOREES Rita

I come from Lisbon, Portugal and I hold a degree in International Relations. In the past 5 years I’ve been working in the field of International Cooperation with different organizations, responsibilities and tasks. I started working for a Portuguese NGO in Lisbon, making some backstopping work focused on project management and I also had the opportunity to have my first voluntary work experience, implementing a local development project in Guinea Bissau, Africa, and making a diagnose/needs assessment in a small village in Cape Vert, Africa.
In 2008 I also worked for a consultancy Group working in the various domains of development and cooperation, ranging from economic and organisational to social and humanitarian development, writing tailor-made technical methodologies, budgeting and gathering the most adequate human resources to reach each project’s goals;
Finally last year I made part of a NGO team working in the interior of Guinea Bissau implementing a project in the sector of Education financed by the Portuguese Cooperation and the European Commission.
After these 5 years dealing with different perspectives and actors in the field of development cooperation I felt that it was time to stop and analyse all these experiences. I am sure that MESCI programme will provide further knowledge in this sector and will help me acquiring important skills to analyse complex development questions.
