Hello, I am Maryam Barak, from Afghanistan. I have graduated from Journalism Faculty of Kabul University and hold a post-graduate diploma from Asian College of Journalism in India. Also, I participated in a fellowship in Sri Lanka in 2020. I worked with the BBC as a producer from August 2020 to August 2021. Prior to joining the BBC, I worked in different capacities with the radio station Salam Watandar from 2017 to 2020. My reports have focused on raising awareness about women’s rights, women empowerment, and children’s rights. After the collapse of my country and evacuated to Italy, I had been selected in a short-term fellowship program of US to explore the stories of Afghans in exile. Now fortunately for continuing my study’s I got scholarship, with this opportunity, I want to study master’s in development economic and international cooperation. I am interested in beginning a career in humanitarian organization and development and I am certain that this course will help me to fulfil myself in both professional and personal contexts.
