Alumni 2018/2019

DENEAULT Andrew

Andrew holds an Hon. B.Sc from York University, Canada, with a focus on physics, science and technology studies, and complex systems. Through the Erasmus Mundus Urbano programme, he completed a M.Sc in International Cooperation in Urban Development from TU Darmstadt, Germany, and a second M.Sc. in Development Economics from Tor Vergata, Rome (MESCI). Both masters encompass human and economic development through economic analysis, project management, impact evaluation, disaster risk mitigation, policy, and governance. Andrew leverages corporate experience in supply chain management and sales. He worked with startups in recruitment and tax consulting, and provided operational support to entities in the public and private sectors. His international experience includes projects in operations and social entrepreneurship with NGOs in Brazil, Haiti, and Guatemala. Andrew is interested in scaleable development research and solutions at the level of cities and regions. The challenges of this century are significant but not insurmountable. New paradigms are necessary. Can we leverage biomimetics, cryptography, and the Internet for the next humanitarian breakthrough? Or is the solution one of micro-economic 'nudges' and participatory development through the existing social infrastructure?
