MANGANI Giorgia
I’m Giorgia Mangani, I’ve 25 years-old and I was born in Rome. I got a bachelor in Economics and Management at the University of Roma Tor Vergata then I decided to continue my academic career there, join a two years master in Business Administration. Actually I am graduated in Business administration and specialized in Management Consulting but now I’m currently undertaking another path. At the end of the first year of Business Administration I did a business exchange semester in Santiago del Cile and I’ve I totally changed my mind. During my permanence at the “Universidad de los Andes” I had my first direct approach to the field of development economics and international cooperation with a specific focus on Latin America. I did a course on Latin America Business and Development which fascinated me a lot. So once I came back to Rome, I decided to work up a final thesis which should have been, let’s say closer to the field I really liked (at least I started to figure out that I used to like international and development economics more than management). Therefore I developed a final thesis on green innovations with renewable energies focusing on the social impact generated by the same in developing countries. After my graduation I applied to a public competition and I won a financing to go to Ibarra, Ecuador. I worked in a NGO called “GRUPO SOCIAL FEPP” and I worked over three different projects that basically concerned local development in poor areas where central actors where artisans and farmers. Thanks to my experience in Ibarra I figured out that I need to enrich my skills and get new competencies in the field of development economics and international cooperation and this is actually the reason why I decided to apply to the MESCI master. I’m not just a student but I’m also one of the tutors and even if sometimes it has been a bit difficult managing the job and the study simultaneously, it is the most precious challenge I’ve been undertaking during these latest years. I hope to find a job that allows me to travel around the world as well as to put me in contact with other cultures and customs.
