Bridging Skills for Sustainable, Ecological and Digital Transformation

Alumni 2011/2012

BUTT Saira

I am 24 and a Pakistani. In 2009 I finished my Bachelors in Economics from Lahore College for Women University. I belong to the second largest city of Pakistan – Lahore – that has grown tremendously in last couple of decades. There is a wide range of urban issues that the city of Lahore is presently challenged with. A peculiar challenge posed by uneven and unplanned growth of cities in Pakistan is of gender insensitive development. It is here where my specific interest lies that how urban development be gender balanced and sensitive. In 2010, this led me to be a part of a dual degree masters programme Erasmus Mundus – Mundus Urbano, Urban Development and Development Economics. My first year of studies was at Technische Universität Darmstadt. I look forward to being part of another culturally and academically diverse group of students and completing the programme at Tor Vergata, to further my knowledge in developing economics and in international cooperation.
